It is time to go backwards. Or maybe sideways and two paces forward. No, this is not line dancing, but a search for mind mutations. The backwards part is in reference to my last post which was about finding new muscles to find more mind mutations, and this post which is about finding mind muscles to further explore or mutate the mind.
Like the hiccups, getting a song stuck on my mind is horrible. And even more like the hiccups, I have developed a method for getting rid of it. This doesn't only apply to songs, but to anything with the property of being sticky.
An important trait of the clingy song is that you cannot remember the lyrics or melody of it, and that is what makes you sing (or think) it over and over. This made me aware of the idea that if you just learn yourself the song, it will stop by itself. But this is cumbersome (unless it is a good song) and is not a quick fix, so all you need to do is make up your own song.
The moment you get aware of the problem the only thing you need to do is think (sing inside your head) the made up song, and just follow it to the end (which you just made yourself). You really need to concentrate. I usually go straight to the ending, and I use the same ending for every song. My brain turns in to a big philharmonic orchestra playing the end to some piece of music. Feel free to use another form of music. And that is the end of it. No more irritation.
As mentioned this can be useful for other things also, like Tetris. There are of course differences, but it is the same basic thing. You just imagine finishing the game in some way, although it is not possible to finish. At least i hope it is not possible. Maybe I'm not good enough (but i am good enough to get the rocket on game boy tetris).
There are no known drawbacks to this method, but it isn't finished yet either, as I have not been able to use it on words. The big problem with words is that there is no end, and it is difficult to make one. So if anyone has any ideas I am eager to hear about them. I'm not sure if words stuck on your mind is a problem for everyone, but it is very annoying to think of one word a whole day. My word is usually "nomenclature", a wonderful word.
To wrap up this post I just have to mention that this method is not really a mind mutation, it is a technique, but I have faith that it will some day turn in to one. And please feel free to post comments, questions or suggestions.
PS.
Just to be clear. The title refers to a song that is often sticking to my brain and wont come out.

The hip bone's connected to the mind bone
This blog is not only about my mutated mind, but also the human body. At least parts of it, and today is hip day.
I realize that this is probably not news to everyone, but it was an epiphany for me. Due to a severe shortage of time in the morning i often need to run to the station where my tram stops. I have always thought that running is running, and that there is nothing more to it. But one day on my way to the tram I instinctively began to use my hips to get more power to my legs. I'm not particularly fast, but it really felt like flying.
What makes this so extraordinary is that the running with hips seems so obvious now, so who knows what other things I have taken for granted.
Although this is hip day I believe it can teach me an important lesson (and I just love those), or maybe even two important lessons, about the mind and its mutations.
Most of this is surely applicable not only to the hips or the physical body, but also your mind. And I'm sure many of the "talents" out there is shared by everyone.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you will share your talent with us, I know I will

- I'm not entirely unsure that this is the way to finding other mind mutations, in fact I'm very sure. New muscles equals new possibilities, and more new territory for the brain to explore. (please keep in mind that I am not an expert of the brain).
- As mentioned this running thing is probably something that every sports person has realized a long time ago, but why isn't this talked about? There are probably hundreds (or thousands) of things about our body that we do not know about, just like the ability to stop the hiccups at will. But I strongly believe that it could be beneficial to all of us if we could share this information, because everyone knows something, but no one knows everything. Please share this information, and feel free to use the commenting system here to do it. Anything and everything is useful. Thanks.

Voluntary spasm of the diaphragm
Hiccups have never been a big problem for me, but as much as anyone else i have always wanted to find a way to stop them.
Quite a few years ago I found a method that worked, it wasn't perfect, but it worked. Unlike all the bogus methods involving drinking water in various positions, and other strange things, this one is simple and does not require any tools. The only thing needed for this to work is to squeeze the area between your thumb and index finger (like in the picture).

When you do this while you have the hiccups, you get the feeling that the hiccup is trapped inside your throat, never to be heard from again. But in spite of this easy method to stop the hiccups I have only met one other person that knows about this method, and that was the one that told me about it. It's crazy to not tell everyone about this discovery, so I cant fathom why it isn't something everyone is aware of.
I must mention now that I've had other people try this, and it seems to work on almost everyone.

I used this method each time I got the hiccups for some years before I found a side effect. It was getting harder to get rid of them, and I got them much more frequently than before. I now had to rub the area described earlier harder and harder, and on both hands for it to work. And after yet more time, it didn't work at all.
Around three months ago, on my way home from a friend, I again got the hiccups. For reasons unknown, I started to experiment with thoughts as a way to stop the hiccups. It almost sounds insane (or like new age, which it is not), but when i tried to visualize my throat "encapsulating" the hiccup i got the same feeling i did with the finger squeezing before, and the hiccups stopped. Yes amazing indeed. Just like that i could stop the hiccups again.
I had concerns though. What if this method also stopped working? Now that i had the hiccups more frequently, I was sure I would go mad if they couldn't be stopped. But something happened before I had time to worry. I found that I didn't have to visualize anything or concentrate on my throat. Just by thinking "stop", they would stop.
Amazing!
As with the first method, this has also had side effects. I get hiccups every day now, maybe five to ten times a day, but never more than two, and usually just one, each time because of my mind stopping them as soon as I get aware of it. The strange thing is that i have both gained and lost some control over my body, and actually created a problem i did not have before.
I have found what I choose to call a mind mutation. My mind controlling my body in a whole new way. Should this even be possible? What else can my mind do? Bend space? Wrinkle time? Why not, but I will try other more tangible things first. What, I don't know yet, but it is going to be good.

Mind over anti matter
Greetings
This blog will be used to document and provide other individuals with information regarding my quest for "mind mutation". I will explain and examine this word through my posts here, and it would also be nice and probably helpful with input from my readers.
I hope you will find my thoughts useful or entertaining, and thank you for reading my first post.
